South Bend's New Police Chief has been on the job for about a week.
So he's seeking your input.
The Common Council hosted a meet and greet with newly appointed Chief Ron Teachman tonight at the Kroc Center.
The chief is looking for constructive criticism on HOW to make the city a safer place.
Citizens on hand had questions about strengthening neighborhoods.
"I'm very interested in strong neighborhoods and because so many of our neighborhoods are distressed and I see a lot of progress I'd like to make sure that progress continues," said South Bend resident Becky Kaiser.
"Things have been going really well," said South Bend Police Chief Ron Teachman. "The community has been warm and welcoming and exceeds my wildest expectations."
Chief Teachman says he's still unpacking some boxes but says he's quickly settling in to his new role.
