Local businesses offering unique Valentine's Day gifts

Posted:

A box of chocolates and roses for Valentine's Day?  How'd you like to give your Valentine a gift they'll never forget?  Several local businesses are making that possible this year by offering some unique gift ideas.

Flowers for your Valentine?  Sure, but why not have them delivered by Swoop, the Silver Hawks mascot?  "Nothing says love like having swoop deliver some flowers," said President of the Silver Hawks, Joe Hart.  So for 100 bucks that's exactly what you can do.  He'll also deliver a Papa Vino's gift card, four tickets to an upcoming Silver Hawks game, and, "top it off you get a big hug from swoop," said Hart.

It's the first year the Silver Hawks are offering this special Valentine's day gift.  "I think it's one of those things people are going to remember.  Can you remember that box of chocolates 10 years ago?  No, but you'll remember when you had a six foot bird walk in and deliver your Valentine's gift," said Hart.

And it's not the only memorable gift option out there.  The Kroc Center will let you record a song for your sweetie or really just make them a CD of whatever you want.  "They can sing, they can play, they can do poetry, the spoken word," said Meg Sauer with the Kroc Center."

You'll get a CD of your work for 30 dollars.  "what can you get for 30 dollars?  You can't get a good piece of Jewelry," said Sauer.

And don't forget that Valentine's Day isn't just for people, pooches love it too.  That's why Linda's Camp K-9 is having a party.  "We always have a Valentine's day kissing booth, some dogs get engaged, some get married," said Linda Candler of Linda's Camp K-9.  All dogs will go home with a picture.  They can also go home with some lip shaped dog treats.  Best of all for the owners, the doggy Valentine's day party will help the people enjoy their Valentine's day plans more.  "If they're going out their dogs are nice and tired and they don't have to worry about keeping them entertained for the night," said Candler.

If you want your dog to participate in the doggy Valentine's party they do ask that you call ahead and reserve a spot.  Their number is 574-256-CAMP (2267)

You also need to call ahead to have Swoop deliver gifts to your Valentine.  You can call the Silver Hawk's office at 574-235-9988.

And the Kroc Center also asks that you call ahead and reserve time in their recording studio.  The number there is 574-233-9471.

If you're still looking for that perfect unique gift idea check out Downtown South Bend's Facebook page.  There's everything from local artwork to a healthy chocolate option.
