The Penn girls swim team finished state runner-up Saturday, the Kingsmens best finish in more than 30 years.
FOX 28 was the only local station in Indianapolis.
Penn's Bethany Galat got the Kingsmen off to a strong start, the defending state champ dominated the 200 I-M again to her second straight title. Teammate Addiyson Burch finished second.
Then in the 100 fly, Galat did it again. The junior won the title and missed setting the record by 1700ths of a second. That's a blink of an eye.
The Kingsmen got solid performances from the entire team and Jess Preston was named co-coach of the year.
In the end, Carmel would not be denied it's 28th state championship, but the Kingsmen didn't care. Penn finished runner-up, for it's best finish since 1980.
