Spring is coming and that means maple syrup season is right around the corner too. The town of New Carlisle is going to celebrate that on Valentine's Day by showing you how to make something sweet.
At 10 a.m. a park naturalist will be teaching people how to tap trees in Memorial Park, which is located on U.S. 20 (Michigan Street). New Carlisle has two sugaring operations ready for the 2013 season. One is located in Bendix Woods just south of State Road 2 on Timothy Road. The other is inside Hamilton Communities.
Bendix Woods will celebrate Sugar Camp Days on March 16 and 17 this year. That festival will include wagon rides, sugar house tours, music, demonstrations and plenty of food. A pancake breakfast will be organized by the New Carlisle Lion's Club.
