Karimu sentenced for killing elderly Mishawaka woman

The man convicted of killing an elderly Mishawaka woman back in December of 2011 was sentenced to 60 year in prison on Thursday.

William Karimu pled guilty to the beating death of Lois Hickey in January. The 19-year-old had been charged with the murder back in March of 2012, but fled to Sierra Leone. He was captured and taken back to St. Joseph County in September of last year.

Karimu had been charged with Murder, Burglary, and Felony Murder, but pled guilty to only the Murder charge. The other two charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement.
