Lumber worker seriously injured in workplace accident

An employee at an Elkhart business is in the hospital after a workplace accident. The owner of Homan Lumber tells FOX28 News a saw operator was injured around seven o'clock Friday morning.

The employee was rushed to a South Bend hospital, then transported to a level one trauma center in Indy. Homan Lumber cuts wood for a number of businesses in the area.

The business closed for the day after the accident, but the owner plans to reopen on Monday.
