Hundreds attend Four Winds Dowagiac Job Fair

Posted:

Over 100 jobs are up for grabs at the new Four Winds Casino in Dowagiac.  To fill those positions the casino held a job fair in town Saturday.

Corina Castillo attended the job fair, "I haven't been active in the employment field in quite some time.  I'm very anxious to get back out there and start working again," said Castillo.  She's a single mom looking for a new job.  "Being at home is nice and being at home with your kids is a wonderful thing but after a while you really feel like you've got to get out there and become a part of the working community again."

Over 300 people showed up at the job fair.  But there's not quite that many open positions.  "There's about 120 positions we have to fill for this location.  And there's some positions we can fill in Hartford and New Buffalo,"  Vice President of Human Resources, Charolette Cook-Hawkins.

To fill those positions they're looking for, "people who are friendly, outgoing, willing to serve the public," said Cook-Hawkins.

Corey Rangel also attended the job fair Saturday.  He needs a job that will let him attend school at the same time.  "This is gonna be a 24 hour job where I can work 2nd or 3rd shift while I'm going to school," said Rangel.  He's excited about possibly landing a new job but he's also excited the casino is moving into town.  "I think it's gonna be an economic boost for sure.  Gonna be more money, more jobs," said Rangel.  And jobs are a big plus to him, Castillo, and many more right now.  "It would benefit me in so many ways," said Castillo.

Four Winds Dowagiac is expected to open sometime this year.  If you missed the job fair today you can apply online.  Visit Four Winds Dowagiac website.
