Strikes and spares were helping cats and dogs Saturday. The St. Joseph County Humane Society hosted a "bowling fur love" event at Chippewa bowl. Every bowler paid to participate and part of that money goes to the humane society. A third of all the money they need each year comes from fundraising. "We have 589 animals in our shelter right now. They all need vaccination, worm, fed, and cared for so we have a big burden every year to raise money," said Dr. Carol Ecker of the St. Joseph County Humane Society.
This was the first time they hosted a bowling event to raise money and Ecker said they plan to do one every year now around Valentine's Day.
