Area police warn of Red Bull car wrapping scam

Posted:

Michigan City police are warning everyone about a scam involving Red Bull and posted on Craigslist or sent through email.

The scammers are soliciting car owners to get their car wrapped in Red Bull advertising.  In exchange potential victims are told they will be paid $600.  If you agree, they send a check for up to $1600.  You are told to keep six hundred, and then send the rest to the wrapping company in Michigan via Western Union.  The check they send will bounce, leaving you out $1600 and the scammers keep the cash.

Below is a copy of one of the ads that the scammers use.  If you believe you are the victim of a scam, police say you should contact your local authorities immediately.

We here at Red Bull are currently seeking to employ individual's Nationwide. How would you like to make money by simply driving your car advertising for RED BULL.
How it works? Here's the basic idea of the "paid to drive" concept:
RED BULL seeks people -- regular citizens, and ordinary drivers, to go about their normal routine as they usually do, only with a big advertising for "RED BULL" plastered on your car. The ads are typically vinyl decals, also known as "auto wraps," that almost seem to be painted on the vehicle, and which will cover a large portion of your car's exterior surface.
What does the company get out of this type of advertising strategy? Lots of exposure and awareness. The auto wraps tend to be colorful, eye-catching and attract a lot of attention. Plus, it's a form of advertising with a captive audience, meaning people who are stuck in traffic can't avoid seeing the wrapped car alongside them. This program will last for 3 months and the minimum you can participate is 1 month.
You will be compensated with $600 per week which is essentially a "rental" payment for letting our company use the space no fee is required from you. RED BULL shall provide experts that will handle the wrap placing on your car.
It is very easy and simple no application fees required contact email along with the following you are interested in these offer.
