The South Bend Police Department is investigating a Wednesday night home invasion on the city's Northwest side.
Dispatchers say it happened at approximately 9:35 near the corner of Lincolnway West and Walnut Street. Police had left the scene by the time FOX 28 arrived, but we did speak with a woman who was home when it happened.
Esmeralda Sevilla says she heard a knock at the backdoor and when she asked who it was a man said he was an appliance salesman. But when she opened the door a group of men burst through and attacked her and her family.
She claims the suspects pistol whipped her husband and pointed a gun at everyone in the family.
"You get traumatized," she said. "It's crazy how people could just come in your house. We're working-hard people and they just come and take our money and point guns at us and at my kids."
Despite the scare, no one was seriously injured in the break in.
"I thank God because my kids are everything to me and if something would've happened to them I don't know what I would have done," Sevilla said.
As of Thursday morning dispatchers say police do not have anyone in custody for this break in. Suspect descriptions are currently not available. If you know anything about this home invasion you're asked to call the South Bend Police Department.
