Factory workers in Plymouth who thought they were keeping their jobs are now learning they will soon be out of work again. Whitley Products in Marshall County suddenly shut its doors back in late January, leaving more than 100 employees without jobs.
Indiana WorkOne organized a "Rapid Response" job fair for employees hit by the surprising closure. During that session on January 31, employees were notified that they would not be losing their jobs.
This week everything changed again. Whitley announced that they expect to close the facility sometime between April 22 and May 6. Whitley Products says in their notice that 86 employees will lose their jobs when the factory closes. The Warsaw-based company expects to close their other facilities in the near future as well.
