Some students at Concord Intermediate School got to have "Lunch with a Professional" on Thursday. The program was started by Assistant Principal Scott DeCocker-Geist.
He gives 5th and 6th grade students the chance to miss recess to hear from a professional from the community. Geist wanted the students to learn about professions outside of "teaching" or what their parents do.
Thursday, Fox 28's Traci Capellman was honored to speak to about thirty 6th grade girls about television news. They had a lot of fantastic questions. One of the ideas, Geist wants to get across is why they need to work hard now.
Scott DeCocker-Geist, Assistant Principal Concord Intermediate School says, "I think kids are understanding education is part of any career. You know, we really want kids to get out of this is to have options."
Fox 28's Steve DuVal had lunch with the boys and talked about his job there on Wednesday.
Interested students have also heard about what it takes to be a veterinarian and a midwife.
