Students get free help applying for FAFSA

Across Indiana, future college students had the chance to get help filling out their FAFSA forms.

And in South Bend, financial aid professionals volunteered their time at Ivy Tech Community College to walk students through the application process.

College Goal Sunday is an annual event statewide and the South Bend campus helped over 50 families Sunday.

"Especially if they haven't done it before, it's a new thing for them so to have a mentor or someone who can help them through it really makes it go more quickly," says financial aid officer at Notre Dame, Jim Malloy.

The deadline for many schools for filing for financial aid is in March so students needing to renew or begin the service need to get on it fast.
