South Bend man charged in apparent gang shooting

A 20-year-old South Bend man is in custody, charged with a murder from more than two years ago.

In November of 2010, William Williams was shot and killed at a home on the 1300 block of North College Street. Williams had been at a party when the shooting happened. Witnesses told police that someone stepped from behind a neighboring home and fired several shots. One shot hit Williams in the torso.

Police say that Williams and Thomas were members of rival gangs.

Thomas was not charged with this crime until last week. He has been in police custody on a hold for US Marshals since May of 2012.
