One person is dead and several more injured after several accidents involving slick roads Tuesday night.
One accident happened just west of State Road 19 on Old US-33 just after 10:00pm. Two teenagers were in the car during the crash..
The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department says the 17-year-old driver was speeding on a snow-covered road when she lost control and slammed into a utility pole.
The passenger, 19-year-old Trent Forte, was taken to an Elkhart hospital with multiple injuries. He died from his injuries Wednesday morning.
The driver, Nichole Besemer has been released from the hospital. The sheriff's department says the driver did not have a license.
Another accident closed eastbound SR-2 in western Saint Joseph County Tuesday night. Police say a vehicle rolled over. No word yet on the condition of the driver.
Back in Elkhart County, another accident happened County Road 38 just east of County Road 9 between Goshen and Wakarusa. Elkhart County Sheriff's officers say a driver was going too fast on a snowy and slushy road and lost control, running off the road and hitting a tree. Officers say the driver was taken to the hospital complaining of head and back pain.
