Diggins honored at Senior Night as Irish beat Syracuse

It is hard to believe, but four years have almost come to an end for Notre Dame's number four.

Notre Dame Women's basketball celebrated Senior Night Tuesday and they honored Skylar Diggins for her great career.

Maurice Scott started to see his step-daughter Skylar grow into the player she is long before she was on the court here at Notre Dame. Tuesday was a special moment for him and the rest of Skylar's family as her career was celebrated.

Diggins is South Bend born and bred. She played basketball not to far from Notre Dame at Washington High School, where she became a McDonald's All-American and Gatorade Player of the Year.

Diggins is having a spectacular career at Notre Dame. She became just the forth women's player in school history to score more than 2000 points and helped lead the Irish to consecutive Final Fours in 2011 and 2012.

Scott says he cannot believe how fast four years has gone by about how her career has flashed before his eyes.

Diggins's biggest impact on the game might be as an ambassador for Notre Dame's women's basketball teams. She's helped bring in sell out crowds to Purcell Pavilion over her four years.

As special as Tuesday was for Skylar's family it was just as special for the fans, especially the young girls who said Diggins inspired them to play basketball.

Not only did the Irish celebrate Senior Night, but they also a big win against Syracuse.

Notre Dame fans have one more chance to catch Skylar play at Notre Dame. The Irish have one regular season game at home against UConn. They could also play a tournament game at Purcell Pavilion.
