Folks in downtown Elkhart had an opportunity to save someone's life, and they didn't even have to go inside.
The South Bend Medical Foundation set up their mobile unit right in the heart of the city. That gave city workers the chance to give blood during their work day.
They parked right across the street from Elkhart City Hall around lunchtime on Wednesday.
"We were right here at the corner of Second and High Street, which is
amazing that we were able to have people just pull up to the sidewalk,
hop on and save three lives with one donation," explained recruitment specialist Farrah Burkhart.
The mayor even came out to do his part. "The people of Elkhart have always been the kind of people that would open up their hearts and open up their wallets, and I'm quite certain that having this availability in Downtown Elkhart is going to mean a lot to the people who eventually receive this blood supply," said Mayor Dick Moore.
The blood mobile will be in the same spot every 56 days, that's how often the guidelines say you're able to give blood!
