Unity Gardens held an urban chickens 101 class Wednesday night in South Bend. This class is in response to South Bend recently approving backyard chickens in city limits. Having chickens has become increasingly popular because of the natural foods movement. At the class participants learned about coop size and what types of chickens to buy. "Well I think fresh eggs is the biggest thing. A lot of people don't like the way chickens are taken care of when they come from a store. A little more nutritious, tasty eggs," said Mitch Yaciw with Unity Gardens.
If you could not make Wednesday's class the Unity Gardens has more classes scheduled in the future.
