Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles revealed its much anticipated Emergency department expansion today.
It's a 9,000 square foot addition that includes more private exam rooms and another trauma room.
This project has been in the works for over a year.
The medical director at Niles ER says, "I'm hoping its going to help what I believe they perceive is high quality care. Now we have this facility to match the physicians, midlevels and nursing staff that we bring to work everyday."
The emergency department was also recently chest pain accredited, so the renovations will include a Chest Pain Unit.
The next set of renovations include a cardiac ops unit, a sexual assault exam room and education room.
Those should be done in the next few months.
