Three dogs killed in South Bend fire

Two people were taken to the hospital and three dogs died after a fire in South Bend Friday morning.

The fire happened in a home at the corner of Carroll Street and Dubail Street on the city's south side.

Fire officials say three adults were on the porch when firefighters arrived. Two of those people were taken to the hospital for observation. Fire officials say the dogs died due to smoke inhalation.

There is no word yet on a cause of the fire. Dubail Street was expected to remain closed while crews investigate the fire.
