Goshen Police have released the names of two people involved in a morning shooting. One of them is a former Goshen Police officer.
The call came in shortly before 8:00am on Monday of a possible shooting on the 100 block of North 5th St. When police arrived, they found a man and woman dead in a parking lot.
Monday afternoon, police released the names of the two people killed, 48-year-old Millicent Morros and 51-year-old John Eric Haitsma.
Police believe the two had a brief discussion before Haitsma shot and killed Morros. Police say Haitsma then turned the gun on himself. Police say their investigation and witness statements told them the two had previously been in a relationship.
Police say Morros was a paralegal at Yoder, Ainlay, Ulmer, and Buckingham. The firm's office is just west of the parking lot.
Police also say Haitsma was a former Goshen Police officer. Police say he left the department in 1998 to operate his own business after 8 years on the force.
