The totals are in and The Salvation Army of St. Joseph County exceeded their holiday goal.
During the organization's Christmas campaign, they raised over 334 thousand dollars.
The donations are collected mostly from the easy recognizable red kettles during November and December.
Donations are also mailed in or dropped off at the Kroc Center.
"Without these programs, you have a lot of people in the community who can't feed their kids sometimes. A lot of people in the community are at risk for utility disruption- no heat, no water, no electricity- all because there may have been some sort of crisis in the family that is preventing them from making ends meet," said Libby Unruh, Social Services Director.
Money donated during the Christmas season helps families all year round.
