Nature of Call: MURDER
Blotter: On March 4, 2013 at approximately 7:47a.m, officers were dispatched at a possible shooting in the 100 block of North 5th
Street, Goshen. Upon arrival officers found two motionless subjects lying on the ground in the parking lot on the east side of
North 5th Street.
Further investigation and witness statements confirmed that the two subjects were known to one another having previously been
in a relationship. It is reported that following a brief discussion, the male subject shot and killed the female subject. The male
subject then took his own life with the same firearm.
The victim: Millicent Morros, 48 years of age, of Goshen. Ms. Morros was originally from Niles, Michigan. She was currently
employed as a paralegal with Yoder, Ainlay, Ulmer, and Buckingham.
The suspect: John Eric Haitsma, 51 years of age, of Goshen. Mr. Haitsma is a former Goshen Police Department officer, having
resigned in 1998 to operate his own business, following eight years of service to the Goshen Police Department.
This incident is under investigation and there is no further information at this time.

Blotter: Leonard Zyla, 53, 301 West Oakridge, Goshen, was arrested after he crashed his vehicle in the 400 block of West Pike
and then left the scene on foot. Zyla was jailed on charges of resisting law enforcement and leaving the scene of a property
damage accident.

Blotter: During an investigation it was discovered that the suspect, Francisco Villarreal, 29 YOA of an unknown address in
Goshen was using a false identity to work. Francisco was located at his place of employment and subsequently arrested for
Synthetic Identity Theft and an Elkhart County Sheriff's warrant. He was incarcerated at the Elkhart County Correctional
Complex.

her 2013 Toyota van had been struck while it was parked at this address and the other driver fled the scene . Video footage is
being reviewed and a report was taken.
