LaPorte County police reopen decades old murder case

The LaPorte County Sheriff's Department and other law enforcement officials have reopened an investigation into a murder case that is over 30 years old.

Juanita Boyd was 31 when she was stabbed and strangled to death in February of 1981.  She had last been scene on February 22 of that year at Snyder's Corner Tavern.  The tavern was on the corner of 1st and "J" Street.  Her body was found six days later in the trunk of her green 1970 Pontiac Catalina in a field near Forrester Road.

Police are hoping to use modern technology to examine DNA evidence kept from the original investigation.  Anyone with potential information about the unsolved murder of Juanita Boyd is encouraged to contact the La Porte County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau at (219)  326-7700 or (219)  879-3530.
