The Potawatomi Zoo has an exciting new addition. A baby takin was born Wednesday evening. Takins are a type of goat-antelope related to the musk ox found in the Eastern Himalayas.
Zoo officials tell us that they don't know if its a male or female yet because they try and be hands off when a new baby is born.
"We want babies to be mom raised, as best as we possibly can to have that natural instinct, we want to give that mother-baby-bond is so important and so we're really hands off," says Marcy Dean of the Potawatomi Zoo.
The baby takin does not have a name yet but you can get your first glimpse of it this weekend as the zoo will be open for a winter day this Saturday.
