Middle school and high school students from across Michiana were given the chance to become CEO for the day in a friendly competition known as the TCU/JA Titan Challenge at Bethel College. The Titan Challenge is a computer-simulated competition that Junior Achievement has developed for schools and students. Decisions like pricing, production, marketing, research and development and capital investments are made by students in order to run a business efficiently. The goal is to see who runs the most effective business model and makes the most money by the time the competition is over.
The Director of Junior Achievement Serving Michiana, Jenny Zimmerman, believes this challenge should teach students to be confident in their own decision making. "They should have a grasp on basic economic concepts," she believes, "that give them the strength and the confidence to be able to go into the work world and be a great employee, and ultimately a great employer."
Bethel and the TCU Foundation will award scholarships to the top three teams. Bethel Awards 1st Place Team - $2,000 each 2nd Place Team - $1,000 each 3rd Place Team - $500 each. TCU Foundation Awards 1st Place Team - $650 each 2nd Place Team - $400 each 3rd Place Team - $200 each.
