Three Oaks Michigan is celebrating the life of Michael Brown. An army veteran who was gunned down in El Salvador last month. Saturday the community gathered to honor Brown, known around town as Brownie.
Outside the funeral home hosting his visitation sat his truck with a big sign reading "Now Showing Michael Brown, Brownie." And just down the street several people gathered at the American Legion to remember Brown. A good friend of his says everyone is still in shock over his death. "Really got everybody unconscious. We didn't know what was going on and everybody was devastated by it," said Jack Mayers.
Saturday was all about celebrating Brown's life. His awards and pictures were displayed at the American Legion. And a dinner was held in his honor. Everyone gathered to share stories and reflect on the man who friends say was known all over town. "Just a super person. Anybody need anything Mike would be here to help you do anything for everybody."
Brown's funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Pobocic Funeral Home.
