Saint Patrick's Day festivities have officially kicked off for people in South Bend.
This morning in downtown South Bend, Jefferson Street was officially renamed Saint Patrick's Boulevard.
Celebrations and activities like a leprechaun chase and live music are planned all weekend for downtown South Bend.
Organizers say there is a lot of love for Irish culture in Michiana.
"We have a very strong contingency of Irish in this community, and there's a number of groups and organizations that are very serious about preserving the culture," says Carol Meehan of the Fiddler's Hearth.
Jefferson Street will remain Saint Patrick's Boulevard for one week.
