Saturday night the town of Bremen honored three local students who have battled cancer within the past year. Dylan Shumaker, Brock Meister, and Seth Young were all diagnosed with different types of cancer last year. That's why they became the theme for this years Riley Children's Hospital Dance Marathon at Bremen High School. The High School has hosted this dance marathon three times before but because of Dylan, Brock, and Seth, this year was different.
The dance marathon started with all the boys being honored on stage. They received a lot of applause and gifts from Notre Dame and the Colts. Seth Young's mothers tells us she is proud to live in a community that is supporting her son and the other two boys. "The community's been very supportive and generous and showed a lot of concerns and prayers and it's very comforting and appreciated. Makes it a lot easier to go through when you have such a great support system behind you," said Brook Young.
Proceeds from the dance marathon are going to Riley Children's Hospital, where all three boys have received treatment. The students have already raised over $5,000.
