This cold weather in Michiana is good news for fruit growers in Southwest Michigan.
An informational meeting was held for fruit growers in Benton Harbor Tuesday.
Some of the topics discussed were pesticide regulations and small fruit insects.
This meeting is to help growers prepare for the upcoming season.
Educators are saying the weather is so far cooperating for crops.
"We're hoping for a normal year. And so far it looks pretty normal. Warm-up has been fairly slow and it was a very warm winter but its been fairly cold," says fruit educator Mark Longstroh.
Longstroh also says if Southwest Michigan can make it through April and May, farmers will be looking at a great fruit crop.
