An area food bank is looking for volunteers to help in a nationwide study of hunger. The Hunger in America Study has been conducted annual since 1993. It is designed to shed a light on the real struggles families in need are facing in communities around the country.
Volunteers will be meeting with people receiving food assistance and gathering information from them.
Volunteers will be responsible for:
- Attending a training session led by Food Bank staff members.
- Traveling to agency sites to facilitate client survey data collection.
- Setting up the online survey at Food Bank member agency sites.
- Following a specific sampling plan to identify clients to participate in the survey.
- Interacting with clients during the research process.
- Addressing questions about the Hunger Study and Client Survey.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, have interest in the Hunger in America Study and its mission, and be able to attend a mandatory training session this spring. Volunteers should have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to agencies in their region of the Food Bank's six-county service area that are participating in the Client Survey. Ability to speak Spanish is not required but would be an asset.
