One person killed in two-car crash in Cass County

One person is dead after a two-car crash on Redfield Road in Cass County. The accident happened shortly after 7:00am on Thursday near Carter St. in Milton Twp.

Michigan State Police say a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Alan Steven of Elkhart lost control on the snowy road and slid into oncoming traffic. His vehicle hit a pickup driven by 35-year-old James Heiermann of Niles.

Steven was killed in the crash. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Heiermann was released with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
