Process to get Indiana handgun license changing

The process people need to follow to get their license to carry a handgun in Indiana is changing.

Starting Monday, March 25, the Indiana State Police will only accept applications filed online. Previously, people looking to get a permit could use a paper application.

There are also changes coming to the fingerprinting process. Applicants must now have their fingerprints taken at an INkless Fingerprinting location. The electronic fingerprint system had been an option.

Several local police departments say they will work to answer questions about the new process.
