Indiana snowstorm leaves area north of I-70 sloppy

Several central Indiana counties have declared snow emergencies as a bloated snowstorm crossed the midsection of the state, dumping 8 inches or more in areas north of Interstate 70.

WISH-TV reports that the worst road conditions Monday morning were reported in rural northeast counties such as Blackford and Clinton, where roads were nearly impassable. A dispatcher in Rush County, southeast of Indianapolis, tells The Associated Press that roads there are snow-covered and slick.

Most areas reported no major traffic crashes despite the challenging drive.

The Indiana Department of Transportation's Greenfield District east of Indianapolis says it had 175 snowplows on duty Sunday night.
