Potawatomi Zoo opens its doors for the season

Posted:

The Potawatomi Zoo officially opened for the season on Wednesday.  Visitors can experience over 400 species on 23 acres, including many rare and endangered species. Beginning Memorial Day weekend guests can stroll through the full immersion butterfly exhibit for another season. Daily keeper talks where guests can interact with the keepers who take care of the animals are also available.

The Director of the Potawatomi Zoological Society, Marcy Dean is excited about all the new things guest will see in 2013.  "We have had a lot of new animals come in while we have been closed, so we have been very, very busy in that respect," says Dean, "new snow leopard, new female red panda, and new chimp...we have also had a couple babies, so we have had a baby takin and we have had a baby Diana monkey, so they are going to see some new faces animal wise and they are going to get to see some babies as well."

The Zoo is open weekdays from 10:00am to 5:00pm.  The cost for admittance is $8.50 for adults and $6.50 for children, and zoological members get in free.  For more information, visit The Potawatomi Zoo.
