St. Joseph Co. guard charged with stealing from inmate

A St. Joseph County corrections officer is under arrest, accused of forcing an inmate to give out debit car information and then taking money from him.

The St. Joseph County Police Department says they started an investigation following a report from the inmate about Trevor Reynolds.  Authorities say they have collected receipts and have video evidence from an ATM.

According to the charging documents from the St. Joseph County Prosecutors Office, Reynolds took the inmate's jail release debit card and withdrew $500 with it.

In the same report police Reynolds claimed to have bought the card from the inmate.  The inmate denies that he sold the card to Reynolds.

Reynolds is charged with two counts of Theft, one count of Trafficking with an Inmate and two counts of Official Misconduct.  He is currently being held in the county jail.  The prosecutor's office is reviewing the case at this time.
