Crews fight field fire in Granger

An afternoon brush fire spotted by county police has been put out by Clay, Penn and Cleveland Township Fire departments. Originally the fire was thought to be 20 acres wide, but ended up being only 4 or 5 acres.

Firefighters used smaller "brush trucks" that have 4-wheel drive to go off road to put out the fire.

Clay Fire said dry conditions and winds contributed to the blaze, but at this point the origin of the fire is unknown.  Even though many people are interested in going out and cleaning up their yards right now, fire departments are urging everyone to wait on burning any brush until later in the season.

If you are interested in burning brush, you should apply for a burn permit with your area fire department
