Dog dies in Elkhart house fire

A dog was killed in a late night Elkhart house fire on Tuesday.  The Elkhart Fire Department says the fire broke out at a quarter to 10 at a home on the 700 block of Middlebury St..

Crews arrived at the scene to find fire coming out of the front and side of the house.  No people were hurt in the fire, and two family pets were rescued from the blaze.  One of the family's dogs did die in the fire.

They were able to get the fire under control in under an hour.  About 75% of the building was damaged.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
