The switch in seasons is rough on those with respiratory problems

Posted:

The weather's nicer so you may want to get out and do yard work or open up your windows to breath in some fresh air.

But if you struggle with respiratory illness, this change in season may cause some issues. Especially as people are out burning leaves and branches.

"Everybody's at risk this time of year with more colds and viruses coming around as well and any kind of pollutant in the air can be an irritant to anybody with problems but particularly those with asthma, emphysema, and other chronic lung and sinus problems," says Dr. James Harris at The South Bend Clinic.

He says while it's good to get out and soak up the rays, if you struggle with asthma or other respiratory illnesses then you may need to limit your exposure.
