NTSB issues preliminary report on fatal plane crash

Posted:

The NTSB has released their preliminary report on the fatal plane crash that happened back in mid-march in South Bend.  Two people were killed and three others injured when the Hawker Beechcraft Premier 1A crashed into three houses on March 17.

According to the report, the pilot told air traffic control that the plane had "lost all power, and we have no hydraulics" and the plane was "barely controllable."  With navigational systems apparently dead, the air traffic controller on the ground attempted to guide the plane in for a landing.

The plane tried to make a landing, but was waved off because its main landing gear was not extended.  The plane tried a second landing attempt, still with only its nose landing gear down.

Witnesses told the NTSB the plane actually touched down briefly on the second landing attempt, bounced several times, and then rose back into the air before it finally crashed.

These are only initial findings in the crash.  A final report from the NTSB is not expected for another several months.

That's the message law enforcement delivered to 23 South Bend gang members last night for one hour. They also offered them a way to get out of gangs. So wh...More >>
