St. Joe County remembers Holocaust victims

A somber event today inside the St. Joe County Courthouse.

This is Yom Hashoah... or "Holocaust Remembrance Day"

It's a day to commemorate the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust.

There's a reason their names were read in a Courthouse.

Debra Grant says, "We believe that it's important for these names to be heard in a place of law where justice is served, where these people who were murdered during the Holocaust didn't have a voice."

Diane Sarnat says, "We forget that racism still exists. We forget that intolerance still exists, but we still have to try. We have to have hope. We have to have optimism."

Participants say Yom Hashoah is so important because if we fail to remember the past, we're bound to repeat the mistakes of history in the future.
