Auto parts company expanding in Bremen

Posted:

An auto parts company is expected to add 34 new jobs by 2015 after an expansion of its Bremen plant.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation says NISCO plans to invest $12.7 million dollars on the expansion.

NISCO is a joint venture between Japan-based Nishikawa Rubber Company and Michigan-based Cooper Standard. The company, which makes parts for automakers like Toyota, Subaru, Honda and Chrysler, employs more than 900 people in Indiana.

IDEC says this is NISCO's third expansion in Indiana in less than a year. The company announced an $8.6 million dollar expansion of its Topeka plant in February that would create 25 jobs. In June, NISCO announced a $5.5 million dollar investment at the Topeka plant that would create 15 jobs.

IDEC says the company was offered $225,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company's job creation plans. The town of Bremen also approved additional tax abatements.
