Memorial Hospital experiences network outage

Thursday morning Memorial Hospital in South Bend experienced a network outage that affected their ability to accept certain patients in the Emergency Room.  Memorial Hospital said, as a precaution, the Emergency Room was put on diversion, except for Pediatric patients, suspected heart attacks, and trauma cases.  A trauma surgeon was on site throughout the day and able to care for any patient needing trauma services.

As of 3 p.m. all systems were back up and running at the Hospital.  The network outage was caused by an equipment failure, according to Memorial Hospital, there was no hacking involved.  At 4 p.m. a Hospital Spokesperson told FOX28 everything was back up and running but people in the hospital were still busy getting caught up.
