South Bend Fire Department member arrested

Posted: Updated:

A lieutenant with the South Bend Fire Department was arrested on felony Official Misconduct and theft charges.

Police say 38-year-old Timothy Greenlee is believed to have stolen medication on Fire Department ambulances used to treat patients.

That medication, called Fentanyl is a pain reliever said to be 100 times more potent than morphine.

The police department was contacted by the fire department Saturday about the missing narcotics.

The fire department had been looking into this matter and through its own investigation narrowed the missing Fentanyl to Lieutenant Greenlee, who is a regularly employed crew member of the ambulance corps.

Greenlee was arrested Saturday.
