A view of violence through the art of South Bend kids

Posted:

Some Michiana kids are opening eyes with their artwork.

It's all part of Victim Rights week, to let the community know that there are resources available to them.

After school, students in South Bend were given an assignment.

They were asked to draw a picture that reflects their view of crime and victims in our community.

The work is pretty impressive.

"It's inspiring to know that children even as young as seven or eight have deep and powerful thoughts about how crime impacts them," says Sareen Dale with the Family Justice Center.

You can see the artwork for yourself at the County-City building beginning Thursday.

The Take Back the Night event is also Thursday.

That's open to the public at 7:30pm on the steps of the St. Joseph County courthouse.
