Morning fog creates hazards for Michiana drivers

Posted:

Thick fog is blanketing much of Michiana heading into a busy work week. Drivers are asked to be careful as they head out this morning.

FOX 28's Amir Abbas is out on the roads and calling dispatchers. He's told there are currently no accidents being cleaned up in Michiana, but they have been a problem throughout the morning.

Dispatchers say there were two accidents overnight on the U.S. 20 bypass. Those accidents have since been cleaned up.

There are two cars on the bypass that have been stranded on the side of the road as well. One is near the Bremen Highway exit on the westbound shoulder. The other is near the Elm Road exit on the eastbound shoulder.

Dispatchers also say conditions in St. Joseph County, Indiana, LaPorte and Berrien County are the worst. Indiana State Troopers report traffic on the Indiana Toll Road is moving just below the speed limit.

Kosciusko and Cass County dispatchers report they're seeing big problems on rural roads as far as visibility.
