Indiana property tax deadline draws closer

The deadline is drawing near: property taxes are due May 10th in Indiana.

St. Joe County Treasurer Mike Kruk says his staff is gearing up for long lines at the county-city building as the date gets closer and closer.

He has a word of warning-- if you haven't gotten your bill, that doesn't mean you're off the hook.

Kruck has a stack of about three-thousand bills that were returned to the office.

He says, "Because you didn't get a bill you are still required to pay your property taxes, and still required to pay them on time."

In Mishawaka, you can pay your taxes in person through the end of this week on the main floor of the county services building on Lincolnway West. The hours are 8 am to 3 pm. Taxpayers can also pay by mail, by phone or online. For those interested in paying their taxes online, click here.
