Teens make music to help a friend in need

A harmony to help:  Argos teens have written a song for a friend in need.

The song is "Courtney's Song."  Courtney is Courtney DeMont, an Argos High School Student who was badly injured in a car accident April 18th.  When her friend Richii Zieber heard the news he didn't know what to think, "it was mind numbing.  I just, oh my god this happened to Courtney,"

To cope with the tragic news Courtney's friend Richii Zieber turned to what he knows best, music.  "I didn't even plan on writing a song.  I was just playing cause I like playing music when I'm upset. "
But he soon realized he had a pretty good guitar riff.

So he enlisted the help of his former band mate Mat Milliser for the vocals.  "The lyrics are about like how we felt when we heard about what happened and how we will help her," said Milliser.

Then Zieber asked his dad, who is also a musician, for his help recording the song.  "When it was done I said this is a great song we can't just let it sit let's do something for Courtney with it," said Jim Zieber.

They decided to make CD's of Courtney's song and sell them.  Courtney remains in intensive care at the hospital so all of the money will go towards her medical bills.  "We don't have money to give we have music," said Jim Zieber.

The Ziebers know how great it can be to receive help from the community in a time of need.  Richii Zieber said, "My mom passed away after she had cancer."  His dad Jim said, "the year she died everybody was there for us."

So now they'll do whatever they can to help Courtney. "I'm gonna quote the song here and say 'we won't go...ever'" said Richii Zieber.

You can pre-order CD's of "Courtney's song" now by emailing courtneyssong@outlook.com  They are $8 or $12 if you need them shipped somewhere.  And the music will continue to help Courtney at a Concert in Plymouth on July 13th.

There are also other fundraisers for the family including a bake sale and car wash Saturday in Argos.
