Memorial Hospital holds remembrance service for children who have passed away

Losing a child is never easy.  That's why Memorial Hospital held a service of remembrance Sunday.  It was for families whose children have passed away at Memorial Children's hospital.

It's the first time the hospital has hosted such an event.  Families and hospital staff came together for music and prayer.  And the names of each child who has passed was read out loud as a flower was placed into a vase.

One hospital staffer was on both sides today., she lost her son Henry in 2009.  He was born with a rare heart defect and died when he was only 5 months old.  "It's really nice to hear your child's name being spoken by somebody else.  Sometimes the fear is that your child will be forgotten," said Maggie Scroope.

After the service families could also put together a potted plant in memory of their child.
