Elkhart mayor appoints committee to look at utility dispute

In Elkhart, council members were talking about several money issues Monday.

One issue that's been ongoing is whether to provide utility services outside the city limits.

Tonight, Mayor Dick Moore appointed a task force committee to look into the issue.

One business owner claimed to have a solution to the ongoing dispute.

Rocky Enfield, a local business owner says, "We pay what the city pays plus 15 percent. That is the norm for communities through our state. That is what the Indiana Regulatory Commission has allowed. What do we need a task force for."

The council also passed a resolution to give tax abatements to R-V parts manufacturer Lippert Components.

The company will be bringing 800 jobs to Elkhart County as it expands its operations in Elkhart and Goshen.
